10 November 2011: Dr. Stefan Lustig will take over the position of President of The European Brewery Convention (EBC). Following the approval of the election of Dr. Lustig by the Board of The Brewers of Europe, the EBC´s Executive Committee has met today in Nuremberg for the official handover from outgoing President Mr. Christian von der Heide.
Dr. Lustig thanked Mr. von der Heide for successfully presiding over the EBC since February 2009, recalling the great steps that had been taken towards further integration within The Brewers of Europe, and congratulating him on the successful EBC Congress that had taken place in Glasgow in May.
Also thanking The Brewers of Europe’s Board for its support, Dr. Lustig stated: “For me it is vital and encouraging to have The Brewers of Europe’s support in this function”. He added that he was looking forward to participating in The Brewers of Europe’s work and to actively contributing to the mission of The Brewers of Europe whilst, at the same time, guiding the EBC towards its own specific targets.
Congratulating Dr. Lustig, the President of The Brewers of Europe, Alberto da Ponte, expressed his delight at the outcome of the election process, adding: “the members of the Board shared with me their encouragements for Dr. Lustig to guide the EBC, the scientific and technical arm of The Brewers of Europe, towards meeting high expectations for enhanced integration.” Mr da Ponte assured Dr. Lustig of his support, as well as that of the membership of The Brewers of Europe.
Dr. Stefan Lustig is the Chief Operating Officer of the Munich-based Brauholding international, a German brewing group with brands such as Paulaner, Kulmbacher and Fürstenberg.
