A COMMUNICATION MANAGER
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, the Communications manager will work on the different communications platforms and producing the various communications tools of the association, including websites, social media, publications, newsletters and events.
The Communications manager’s responsibilities will include:-
- Advising on the approach and opportunities for external communications to support advocacy, in a way that attracts the attention of policymakers and the media;
- Building up a network and good working relationship with fellow communications managers in member associations, companies and other relevant EU sectoral associations;
- Participating in relevant working groups in order to build up knowledge of the issues and propose communications initiatives for consideration;
- Building an efficient network across social media of member associations, brewing companies and other value chain partners, to support a joint and coherent approach and narrative;
- Translating policy positions and data into engaging content, including videos, infographics and interactive content for enhanced audience engagement;
- Managing and optimising the main association website and satellite web platforms, to ensure up-to-date, living, dynamic platforms that are easy to consult;
- Running the social media channels and optimising their reach, including by actively seeking out relevant content to build a narrative and engaging with others to increase visibility, foster positive interaction on and with The Brewers of Europe and build engagement with key stakeholders;
- Coordinating events from start to finish, with support from outside agencies where appropriate;
- Producing and finalising coherent, compelling and impactful publications and other tools;
- Delivering monthly external and internal newsletters to key stakeholders and members respectively;
- Enforcing a strict adhesion across all internal and external communications platforms to a clear and consistent brand identity for The Brewers of Europe;
- Progress monitoring and status reporting on the implementation of communications activities.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years working experience in hands-on communications
- knowledge of how to use communications to support political advocacy
- a digital native with a thorough knowledge of online media and latest social media trends
- understanding of the EU policymaking environment
- proficient with relevant software tools
- excellent oral and written skills in English. Knowledge of other EU languages a plus.

AN ECONOMIC AFFAIRS MANAGER
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regulatory Affairs Director, the Economic Affairs Manager will be working primarily with The Brewers of Europe’s Economy Strategic Management Team, but also with other working parties, and be actively engaged as an essential part of our Brussels based team.
The Economic Affairs Manager’s responsibilities will include:
- monitoring policy and regulatory initiatives at EU and national level
- providing timely, rigorous, cogent and actionable advice to The Brewers of Europe members on economic, regulatory and competition issues of relevance to the business
- shaping compelling economic arguments on a variety of issues and marshalling appropriate supporting evidence and data, including statistics
- building consensus from often divergent viewpoints expressed by member associations
- crafting clear concise summary documents from often complex information and extensive data sets
- leading the production of research reports to tight timeframes, from initial contact with service providers, planning and execution of research, and production of the final printed publications
- developing and helping communicate The Brewers of Europe positions that support the sustainable growth of European brewing business
- developing recommendations relating to strategic approaches to advocacy, helping to set objectives as well as delivering concrete action plans to implement strategies and reach objectives
- helping develop credible solutions to public policy challenges, in a way that attracts the attention of policymakers and the media
- managing a number of workstreams, identifying priority areas and delivering outputs to challenging deadlines
- conducting a variety of detailed surveys and responding in a timely fashion to inquiries for provision of information and data
Qualifications
- advanced university degree in economics
- 3 to 5 years working experience in a similar position
- familiar with EU policies particularly in the fields of taxation (e.g. excise, VAT, carbon border adjustment mechanism) and customs. Knowledge in the fields of health, environment and trade a plus
- proficient with Excel and/or analytical software packages
- able to develop and maintain electronic data filing systems
- excellent oral and written skills in English. Knowledge of other EU languages a plus

- the ability to work with data to build a compelling case for policy proposals
- the ability to communicate complicated economic concepts in simple terms to non-economists
