Europe’s newest brew house shows the way in innovation, efficiency and sustainability

September 13, 2012

This month saw the opening of the new state of the art brew house at Farsons Brewery, in Malta! Inaugurated by the Maltese President and blessed by the Archbishop, this major national, and European, event was also attended by the acting Prime Minister, leader of the Opposition party and a number of guests from overseas, including The Brewers of Europe.

The new brewhouse also demonstrates the brewing sector’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Incorporating a natural ventilation system, rain water harvesting and temperature insulation, energy savings will also arise from lower energy use per litre of beer brewed, through energy recovery, low emissions and reduced packaging.

The inauguration is also a useful reminder that beer is not just enjoyed, but also brewed, in all 27 EU Member States, big and small.

On that note, on 18 September in the European Parliament, Members of the Parliament will also have the opportunity to sample the delights of Cypriot beer at a reception organised by Parliament Magazine and marking the current Cypriot Presidency of the European Union. The event will be hosted by Cypriot MEPs Takis Hadjigeorgiou and Ioannis Kasoulides, and opened by Andreas D. Mavroyiannis, Deputy Minister to the President for European Affairs.
